Restaurant Moosalp is celebrating its 60th anniversary this summer. Since opening, Balbina Kalbermatten-Karlen has been an integral part of the restaurant. Amadé's mother shares her memories of six decades at the Moosalp restaurant on local TV channel Kanal9.
On the TV show, Balbina remembers the early years, which were not always easy. Together with her sister-in-law, she often spent time alone in the restaurant while her husbands worked in Törbel. In the first weeks after the opening, some days were left without a single guest. The restaurant was barely known back then — an idea that is hardly imaginable today.
As is the case today, raclette was served over an open fire at the Moosalp restaurant, Balbina Kalbermatten remembers. “Everything was very easy here.” On the television program, Balbina also reflects on beverage prices from back then. “Back then, a Fendant balloon cost 60 centimes,” Balbina remembers.
