Werni would be celebrating his 89th birthday today. We remember with gratitude our father and grandfather Werni, who passed away at the end of November 2023. On his 89th birthday today, we would like to dedicate a special place in our hearts to him.
60 years ago, Werni, together with Alois Seematter and Julia Schmid, laid the foundation stone for the Moosalp restaurant. With great dedication and a tireless spirit, they created a place that continues to inspire guests from all over the world today.
Werni and his wife Balbina were the heart and soul of our restaurant for many years. His humorous manner and his mischievous smile always left a lasting impression on our guests. His spontaneous Alphorn inserts remain particularly memorable. Although he never knew exactly which piece he was playing, his music brought joy and joy to our house.
Werni's true art was shown in raclette painting. No one else mastered this technique as he did. He whipped up the perfect raclette over an open fire. We are convinced that no other person has canceled as many raclettes as Werni. He himself often joked that he was balancing between heaven and hell when stroking raclette — he found heaven with his beloved wife Balbina, hell in tirelessly stroking the cheese on an open fire.
In the last years of his life, Werni's health deteriorated. Despite his health challenges, he remained a symbol of strength and dedication for us. His love for the Moosalp restaurant and his family was always palpable.
We would like to pay our utmost respect to this exceptional man who has done so much for us and our restaurant. Without Werni, the Moosalp wouldn't be what it is today. His passion and dedication live on in each of us, and we are infinitely grateful to him.
With loving remembrance,
Amade, Carmen, Jeremy, Priscilla
