When one of the country's most talented chefs breaks new ground, it's more than just a staff member — it's a promise of enjoyment. Miri Schwarz, model student of top chef Heinz Rufibach, will join the Moosalp restaurant team from summer 2025.
Born in Emmental, she comes from a family of swingers and is known for her down-to-earth attitude, ambition and a keen sense for aromas. She most recently cooked as executive souchef at the five-star Hotel Zermatterhof and was awarded 14 Gault Millau points for her outstanding performance at the “Lusi” restaurant in Zermatt. Her signature: clear, sophisticated and deeply rooted in Swiss cuisine. Heinz Rufibach, head of the five-star hotel Zermatterhof, described Miri Schwarz as a model student.
Her move to Moosalp is a direct result of the surprising resignation of her mentor Heinz Rufibach at Zermatterhof. “It was a shock for our entire kitchen team,” says Miri Schwarz. “I knew right away that I wanted to reorient myself. Moosalp is a place close to my heart — and I'm really looking forward to summer in this unique environment.”
Miri is no stranger to Moosalp. In recent years, she has repeatedly supported the Moosalp Ensemble during Zermatt's off-season. What began with selective assignments will become a permanent collaboration from summer.
The Kalbermatten family is also delighted with the prominent new addition: “Miri not only brings the highest level of craftsmanship and cuisine — she is also a perfect match for us as a person. Their story, their values, their team spirit: That is 100 percent Moosalp.”
With Miri Schwarz's addition, Moosalp not only gains another outstanding chef — but also a passion for regional, creative cuisine. Summer 2025 can come.
